The pair of chromosomes that determine sex in humans are ; the X and YChromosomes .human sex is predeterimined in the sperm.
 

Female produces gametes(ova) are that are homogametic, because all its cell possess the XX sex chromosomes.Male produces gametes (sperms) that are heterogametic because around half of them contain the X chromosome and others possess the Y chromosome to compliment the first X chromosome.

Fertilization between male and female gametes,leads to formation XX and XY individuals. sperm are the variable factor (i.e. which sperm fertilises the egg) they are responsible for determining sex .The combination of sex chromosomes that determine the sex of an offspring

In Humans the sex chromosomes of a normal female are XX and the sex chromosomes of a normal male are XY.
