This is because the s shelf when complete has 2 electrons but one of thoses electrons abosorbed energy, jumping to the p shelf.

I believe it will be [Kr]4d105s15p1 is in the excited state just because the s is shaing an electron with the p, and should come back down.
 
I'd admit the 2nd one looks like it too, but in general chem that doesn't look like a classic model like the 3rd one is. And I think what he said was correct, or looks like that in my book as well. Hope that helps a bit. :+)
