From all the information they give us, they want us to end up with volume.  I find it helps to write out all the units on the numbers and then look at how they can cancel to give us the answer they're looking for.

Start out with the rate of waste generation:

R =

We have 6 people generating waste, so we multiply the rate by 6 people (capita means 'head'.... which has come to mean person)

R =x 6 people

The people/capita units cancel, and then we have a rate of waste generation per day

R =

They want to know how much waste is generated in a year, so we multiply by 365 days.

R = x 365 day = 2190 kg

We end up with 2190 kg of waste produced in one year.

The last piece of data we have is the density, 480 kg/m^3.

When you divide a mass by its density, you get the volume it takes up.

= 4.5625 m^3
