A Couple of Questions

Course Textbook Chapter Problem
Digital Circuits Microelectronic Circuits (5th) by Sedra, Smith 5 7P
Question Details:
For this problem, are we assuming we are in the active mode?

Also, the problem uses IF, but the book uses IEare IF and IE the same current?
